We had eleven demonstrations running concurrently at Challney High School for Girls last Thursday and this perimitted most demonstrators to have a break during which they were able to see their colleagues in action. \u00a0The day was a great success, the girls asked intelligent questions and the Head of Science has asked me to book next year’s Chemistry at Work day again, as soon as possible. All\u00a0the demonstrators were experienced, some\u00a0having participated regularly\u00a0for ten years or more!<\/p>\n

The demonstrations\u00a0 involved:<\/p>\n

  2. Anglian Water \u2013 Pure Water<\/li>\n
  3. Bedfordshire Police \u2013 Police Chemistry<\/li>\n
  4. Bluefield Centre \u2013 Poisons & How They Work<\/li>\n
  5. BRE – Fire and Buildings<\/li>\n
  6. Bugs & Beasties \u2013 Earth Worms<\/li>\n
  7. Chartered Civil Engineer \u2013 Roads & Potholes<\/li>\n
  8. Mid-Bucks Beekeepers \u2013 The Honey Bees<\/li>\n
  9. Proctor & Gamble \u2013 Hair Styling and Gel Fiormation<\/li>\n
  10. Research Chemist\u2013 Discovering Medicines<\/li>\n
  11. Steve Bainbridge \u2013 Asbestos Proection but Dangerous Dust
    \nThe reserve was Paramagnetism and the Chemistry of Fire from EBA<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I am doing all I can to get through the RSC’s sudden recent funding changes. Any more suggestions of possible funders are welcome.<\/p>\n
